Children's Jewelry

Once you have decided that a jewelry box is the gift you would like to purchase, you need to narrow down your choices. When purchasing a jewelry box for a child, you need to look specifically at children's jewelry boxes. By purchasing one made specifically for a child, you can ensure it meets all safety standards for children's products and will be easy for the child to use.
Children's Jewelry
Childrens jewelry boxes have many features that are not seen in other types. Clasps and closures are larger in a child's box to accommodate smaller hands. Mirrors are often built in so the child can see if they are wearing jewelry correctly. Also, the construction of a child's treasure box is often more durable than for a standard box to ensure it holds up during kid's play. If a child cannot open and close their box or it breaks during normal play, it will not be the gift you envisioned. Take all of this into consideration when choosing a box.
Children's Jewelry
When looking for children's jewelry boxes, start with well known sites like Amazon.com. Here you can choose pre-assembled ones or purchase a kit where the child can create the box of her dreams. Fisher Price offers the Color Me Gemz Jewelry Box which she can decorate while also making her own jewelry. Another jewelry box kit is the Works of Ahhh... Wooden Jewelry Box Painting Kit. Here the recipient receives a quality wooden box along with paints and brushes to customize the kit any way she prefers.

Celtic Jewelry

Celtic Jewelry
The traditions of the Celtic people and Celtic jewelry go back for centuries. The Celtic people were a proud culture and used handcrafted jewelry to express many aspects of their culture. Many of the best pieces of jewelry made today originate from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Cornwall where many of the Celts eventually settled over the years. As more and more people around the world discover the beauty, culture and charm behind the remarkable fine metalwork found in Celtic jewelry, the availability of Celtic jewelry has increased along with it to meet the growing worldwide demand for well-made Celtic rings.

As with anything popular, there is a tendency for jewelry makers to try and cash in on the rising demand. The increasing popularity of these jewelry pieces drive these opportunists to take shortcuts and use non-traditional forms of Celtic jewelry making. You'll find many sellers of Celtic rings and jewelry on the marketplace today with prices ranging widely. It is important to keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Ensure that the Celtic jewelry you purchase is from an authentic Celtic jewelry maker. Although the seller may not be an Irish, Scottish, or British company they can still stock authentic, quality Celtic jewelry because many of the top Celtic jewelers export these popular pieces around the world to major markets like the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Be sure to find out the origin of their Celtic rings.

Shopping offline allows the prospective jewelry buyer to try on a few Celtic rings or Claddagh rings so they can see how it looks but do keep in mind that brick and mortar jewelry stores are limited by their available display space and usually stock limited designs of Celtic jewelry. You may not find the size you want and Celtic rings and Claddagh rings are difficult to resize due to the intricate designs on the ring. One of the best alternatives to shopping for and finding a large selection of Celtic jewelry is on the Internet. The Internet has grown into a global marketplace where stores from around the world can offer a variety of items up for sale to buyers seeking these items 24 hours a day seven days a week.

If you are buying Celtic jewelry from popular auction sites like eBay, do be careful of fakes and low quality jewelry. Always buy from a reputable seller or you could lose a tidy sum of money on jewelry that isn't exactly as promised. These sellers are usually labeled as Powersellers and have been doing business on eBay for a long time with lots of positive feedback.

When buying specific Celtic jewelry that's on the higher-end like Celtic engagement rings or Celtic wedding rings, it is best to buy them from a Celtic jeweler direct. You will find many of the best Celtic jewelers are online. By buying from a reputable Celtic jeweler, you ensure yourself of a large Celtic jewelry selection available since many do not necessarily stock everything seen on the site but rather custom-make many of the Celtic rings to fit the buyer. In addition to the large selection, you can also choose specific Celtic ring designs and determine yourself how the ring will eventually look like in the end. You can customize the precious metal used to make the ring, the ring size, carat size, whether it's a mens or ladies ring, etc. If you were buying a piece found at a jewelry store in a mall on the other hand, you would only be able to choose what they have on hand. So, in conclusion, buying custom-made Celtic rings from a Celtic jeweler is still the best way to go.

Designer Jewelry

Since times immemorial, women and jewelry have been best friends. It is a fact that precious gems and rare metals do look good on women and they both complement each other's unique beauty, almost perfectly. And when you look at the modern scenario, you will find that it's not just women who have a penchant for jewelry! Men have joined the queue of admirers and users of fine jewelry. Thousands of types of jewelry are available all over the world, but when it comes to the best, you need not look further than designer jewelry.

What is Designer Jewelry?
While the term 'designer' is being used as a prefix to sell almost every item under the sun, jewelry holds up the true essence of designer products. Just like designer clothes, these are one-of-a-kind pieces created by fashion or jewelry designers. If you own one, you can be sure that no one else has the same design, unless it's a fake.

Designer Jewelry

Since this type of jewelry adds exclusivity to the cost of the precious stones and metals which go into making them, their prices are really high. But despite that you'll find that they sell like hotcakes!

Who Wears Them?
The rich and the famous are sure to own quite a few sets of jewelry which they flaunt at every chance they get! Movie stars and socialites are the ones who are sure to turn up at every event wearing the works of different designers. Other than them, anyone, who can afford the usually exorbitant prices, can own designer jewelry.

Why Should You Invest on Designer Jewelry?
Although the prices of designer jewelry may seem step even if you are quite affluent, they are a really good investment. You should invest in the jewelry because:

o They are works of art. And like other art, their value also tends to increase with passing time. Particularly if they are from a top-notch designer, you can expect to make a sizeable profit if you decide to sell them. And you should know that the resale value of generic pieces can actually go down, if the prices of gold or other precious components come down in future! The same can never be true for this jewelry.

o They are usually handmade and thus the designs and quality on offer are better than other expensive retail-jewelry.

o You can even own custom made jewelry. If you have certain specific design or other requirements, you can ask the designer to make a set according to those.

Is it Possible to Find Cheap Designer Jewelry?
You may be really happy to know that it is actually possible to get the jewelry for less, without having to settle for fakes. Some such possibilities are:

o Annual sales at upscale departmental stores. Here, you may find great deals on some designer jewelry too!

o Bargain hunting on the internet. The best place to find designer jewelry on the cheap is at an EBay auction. You can also make your purchase from online retailers, who provide great discounts on designer jewelry.

With this exhaustive information about designer jewelry at your disposal, all that remains is for you to purchase some!

Costume Jewelry

Costume Jewelry
Costume jewelry. Can you say hot, hot, Hot! The perfect solution to keeping up with fashion trends, making your own personal statement and pulling your great new outfit together is costume jewelry. Ranging in price from very expensive to really cheap, costume jewelry fits every ones budget and style. Whether you are an antique costume jewelry collector or a just a woman with great taste in fashion why not take a few precautions to extend the life of your jewelry? Maybe your favorite necklace of today is tomorrows antique collectible, so we have listed a few basic tips for care and cleaning of costume jewelry. I must admit while doing research for this article I ran across a lot of conflicting information. This article is a combination of that information taking the safest suggestions to present to you.

Without doubt all information I located agreed that abrasives and moisture are the most common culprits of deterioration of costume jewelry. Costume jewelry is most often produced with non-precious metals, usually gold or silver plated, and with or without beads of varying types. These metals tarnish as a result of oxidation of plated jewelry exposed to certain elements such as sulfur, oxygen and certain acids.

Remove jewelry before showering or bathing, grooming and before doing any type of household chores such as washing dishes. Believe it or not chemicals can be very abrasive and ruin the finish of costume jewelry. Be especially careful of chlorine bleach, window cleaner, oven cleaners and bathroom cleaners. When you get ready in the morning don't put your jewelry on until the very last thing before you begin your day. If you have bathed or showered be sure your skin is dry. Water and personal care products can tarnish and dull the finish of your jewelry including hair spray, cosmetics, skin care products and perfume.
Costume Jewelry
To keep your costume jewelry sparkling, clean your costume jewelry in a mild, PH balanced soap diluted with water such as a PH balanced shampoo like "Orvus". Thoroughly dry your jewelry after exposure to water by patting gently with a soft, lint free cloth and letting it air dry completely. Store your costume jewelry in a dry container with anti-tarnish paper.

Always dry your jewelry after exposure to water. Pat with a soft cloth not a paper towel or cotton balls. Paper towels are too abrasive and cotton gets caught in the tiny tinges holding in gem stones which could eventually pull them loose.

When storing your jewelry be sure they are separated or stored in soft pouches. Just going through your jewelry box looking for the perfect piece to wear causes damage. The rubbing and moving against metal, glass beads and stones dulls their finish and can scratch their surfaces.

Skin discoloration is commonly caused by metallic abrasion from make-up on skin or clothing. Some cosmetics contain compounds harder than the jewelry. These compounds can rub tiny particles against the metal causing very fine black dust. When this dust comes into contact with Absorbent surfaces, such as your skin or clothing, making contact with this dust forms a black smudge.

Another cause of skin discoloration is corrosion of the metal. The elements gold and silver do not corrode, but alloys of silver and copper will, forming dark chemical compounds under damp conditions. This is especially true under humid conditions and can also occur in costal areas when salty air and perspiration combine and become corrosive.

Read labels of commercial jewelry cleaning products carefully before using. Make sure they specifically say they are safe for costume jewelry and be sure they do not contain ammonia, vinegar, acid or alcohol. Many everyday substances are too harsh for such delicate materials. If your piece contains pearls or gem stones, be sure that the cleaner indicates that it will not harm them.

Do keep your jewelry away from dust and dirt as much as possible.

Baking soda and toothpastes are too abrasive for cleaning your costume jewelry.

Pearls are special and require special care of their porous texture. Pearls are meant to be worn and wearing them is great for them too. The oil from your skin help prevent pearls from drying out and loosing their luster. Never store pearls in plastic bags, Only use a soft cloth jewelry bag for storage, plastic wrap or bags are a big no-no!

The porous texture of semi-precious stones, precious stones and some beads are made of minerals that can crack or chip easily. Needless to say, try not to hit them or knock them into rough or hard surfaces when you are wearing them. Also avoid spas and saunas or any other high temperature activities. The protective outer layer of these stones can be weakened or discolored by chlorine (like in the pool), salt water and any other chemical substance.
Some of the conflicting information I found includes:

* The use of polishing clothes.
* Storing costume jewelry in plastic bags.
* Using toothbrushes to clean jewelry.

Men's Jewelrys

Men's Jewelrys
When we talk about jewelry, it's usually in reference to women because they wear more jewelry, they buy more jewelry for themselves and they receive more jewelry as gifts. However, there has been a marked growth in the men's jewelry market of late. In fact, a 2004 survey by a jewelry industry group found 62 percent of women thought men's jewelry attractive or sexy; 40 percent said men should wear more jewelry -- more than just wedding rings.

Asked why men should wear more jewelry, over half the responding women called it a sign of confidence and success or showed the man cared about his looks. Nearly one-third said jewelry just looks nice against his skin. Clearly, men's bling-bling is cool, and this men's jewelry guide includes some basic information on what options are available, so that you can add just the right bling to your fashion wardrobe.

What you need to know

The first rule for a man's jewelry is "Don't overdo." Maybe Mr. T. can wear enough gold chains and earrings to finance a small country, but we all pity the fool who tries to match T's trademark fashion statement!

Among precious metals, gold and silver jewelry remain the most popular, but platinum is gaining fast, and industrial metals -- stainless steel, titanium and tungsten -- have debuted to rave reviews. When surveyed on what manly jewelry was attractive, watches score top marks. Rings and necklaces tied for second and, in third place, cuff-links and bracelets were almost even. Earrings and body jewelry round out the top vote-getters.

Rings
Men's Jewelrys
Men's rings declare a man's personality and his increasing success. Men can have anything from simple, unadorned bands to the fanciest designer rings. For those on a budget, a modest cubic zirconia ring set in silver tone or gold tone makes a great start; it can easily be traded up to sparkling diamond rings or gemstone rings later on. You can also choose the traditional settings (precious metals) or you can jump into something modern (the industrial metals) which, because of their durability, have become new symbols of strength and energy.

When wedding bells ring, everyone knows the bride gets almost all the attention, but why should she get all the ice? Grooms' rings can be a simple band with a diamond accent, or a big, hefty ring sparkling with diamond studs. Love (and marriage) should last forever, so this is definitely the time to spend what you must to get the wedding band you really want without worrying about the price. Sales and deep discounts are always available, you just have to look for them.

Necklaces or Chains

Men's necklaces (more often called neck chains or just chains) generally run from 18 to 24 inches in length. This is enough to get around husky necks, but not so much that the chain extends below the sternum, where many women's necklaces drop. Correctly, a necklace or chain is the links or woven wires without ornaments attached. The things that hang on the chain are "pendants" or "medallions." Usually, pendants are sold on chains, but not always. All these terms are used interchangeably, so be sure to read descriptions carefully and know exactly what you're buying.

Dog tags seem to be the most popular men's necklaces right now, but religious jewelry, unadorned gold or silver chains are also in fashion, and probably always will be. Most men avoid large pendants, but defining "large" is strictly an individual choice.

Cuff Links

Cuff links may be the most limited men's jewelry item; you can only wear them with a French-cuff shirt, but that simply makes them more noticeable when they are on. What they lack in versatility, they make up for with diversity. This puts them among the most-frequently gifted men's jewelry.

Cuff links come with professional symbols, team logos, classical and abstract art motifs; they are available in every metal and accented with every type of gemstone. They even come in glass and crystal. Cuff links are a chance for a man to show off his work, his ethnicity, his hobby or anything else about himself, while also showing his elegant good taste. It is an opportunity to display fine jewelry that no man should pass up, especially a man wearing a French cuff shirt (think about it).

Bracelets

A few years ago, men's bracelets were rare, but times have changed; men's bracelets are in! Gold bracelets -- yellow gold, white gold, two-tone gold, etc. -- are probably the most common with silver, especially sterling silver, close behind. Other metals are getting into the mix while, for some, the leather bracelet will always be the only choice. It really is a what-you-want-is-what-you-get opportunity for displaying personal fashion style.

The ID bracelet is a perennial favorite, although the name is a bit misleading. It's any wrist chain with an engraving plate. You can engrave your name (some of us must be that forgetful or we wouldn't buy so many!), wife's name (with birthday or anniversary dates for that absent-minded crowd), alma mater or personal slogan; all are good choices. If you have a medical condition, medical alert bracelets are great, especially those with a small compartment to contain vital information -- doctor's name, allergies, medications, etc.

Earrings

Ever wonder why pirate movies are full of guys wearing an earring? It was to pay for the funeral, should they get shipwrecked and wash ashore dead. Happily, this is not something 21st Century men need worry about. Men's earrings began to be popular again a few years ago among specific groups, but they have since become widely accepted as "legitimate" men's jewelry (whatever that's means). Men's earrings have a distinct advantage over women's earrings; since most men wear only one, the earring dollar stretches twice as far!

"A basic diamond stud for the basic stud" may not be very PC, but it's a good enough rule, and certainly not written in stone; hoop earrings, dangle earrings, drop earrings, any kind of metal or gemstone, makes the right earring if the wearer is happy with it.

Money Clips

Nothing beats the feeling of pulling a money clip full of bills out of your pocket (unless it's having so many bills they don't fit in said money clip!). Money clips are the minimalist way to carry cash and are increasing in popularity as cash is increasingly replaced by debit cards. Sound odd? It isn't, some new money clips are designed to carry both cash and cards in a safe, compact format. If truly elegant fashion is the look you're after, a money clip is worth having. Hey, want to really protect your paper and plastic? Get a money clips in titanium or tungsten.

Religious

Whatever form your faith takes, you can express that faith with men's religious jewelry that is as beautiful as it is affordable. From the cross to the Star of David to Asian charms, the selection is as wide as human philosophy. Some jewelry icons have grown to transcend any specific church or religion: Many people are sure they have a guardian angel watching over them, and you don't have to be a Druid to be fascinated by a Celtic knot. From a claddagh to a patron saint medal to spiritual jewelry from the four corners of the world, a necklace, bracelet or ring featuring your personal icons is as ecumenical as it is affordable.
